Gain space and reduce costs in your Blister Packing Lines

Improvement potential for Pharmaceutic Manufacturers

Blister Detector

Did you know, that ROLAND ELECTRONIC is producing a very special device to be used in pharmaceutical Blister Packing Lines? This clever device is able to inspect the content of cartons filled with pills in blisters, when the carton is already closed!

This device - called Blister Detector - sends electromagnetical waves through the closed carton and by analyzing the reflected signal it is able to find out, if the right number of blisters is inside the closed carton. In case it detects 1 blister more or 1 blister less, it gives signal to an ejector, who blows the unwanted carton into the rejection bin.

The detection is made within some milliseconds and thus it is able to inspect up to 1000 cartons per minute. The Blister Detector consists of a controller and a sensor pair with connection cables. The sensor pair is small and occupies only 80 mm space in transport direction. The transmitter is mounted above and the receiver below the carton transport path.
It combines with vertically and horizontally mounted conveyor belts.

The system is designed to be integrated in other machines so it does not require additional space of your packing line. But after it is integrated into your packing line (e.g. in the cartoner machine, the transport conveyor or into your track and trace station) then you are able to dismount your check weigher. And suddenly you gain 600 to 1000 mm and more space!
Several cartoner machine makers have already integrated the ROLAND Blister Detector.

Key figures:
Technology:                Eddy Current
Blister layers:              max. 10
Blister size:                 min 30 x 60 mm
Detection rate:            1000 bpm (6 layers)
Conveyor speed:        max 90 m/min

Advantages:

  • Easy Teach-In
  • Insensitive to variation of pill weight
  • Very small space requirements
  • No calibration / no maintenance costs

My recommendation:
Start using Blister Detector when installing your new track & trace station.
